PRIVATE SCHOOLING ‘IGCSE QUALIFICATIONS’ EDEXCEL IGCSE is the latest UK qualification that is increasingly gaining popularity amongst students. The provision for private registration is a big boon to many students because of the increasing school fees and declining academic standards in the schools in UAE. The private candidates have the option of getting into the Colleges and Universities after getting IGCSE qualifications. Please note that as a private candidate the IGCSE certificate will not be endorsed by the Ministry of Education & Youth and the candidate cannot continue his studies in a school in UAE but can enroll for colleges and Universities in UAE and abroad. He / She can apply for visa with this certificate. This Ministry regulation means that a private candidate cannot enroll for ‘A’ levels in a school but has to do it privately. ‘A’ levels are not a necessity for University entry but the private candidate has the option to do it privately if he/she wishes to continue. The British Council conducts the EDEXCEL IGCSE exams in Dubai. They charge exam fee for the selected subjects. This exam fee is compulsory even if a student is registering through the school. The fee has to be paid in the month of December / January if the candidate is planning to appear for the exams in May / June. The private candidates will be assigned an exam centre 15-20 days before the exam is to be conducted. The IGCSE examination has two tiers: Foundation & Higher tier. Students may choose a subject and the tier they are interested to study. It is highly recommended that before choosing a subject or tier every student must get counseled for his aptitude, interests and profession he/she wants to pursue in future.
Students can choose any number of subjects from the list above. English as a second Language has an oral examination in addition to written examination. The oral examination is conducted in the British Council.
Advantages of giving exams privately through the EDEXCEL & British Council 1. Economical The schools in UAE that offer British Curriculum charge fees anywhere from Dhs 1200—5000 per month. In spite of the high fees the students still need a lot of personal attention in the form of private tuitions. This means additional expenses for the parents to the tune of Dhs 500—700 per month. The school fees are spread over three years (Years 9th, 10th and 11th) and in addition to this the exam registration charges with the British Council comes to about Dhs 2000—3000 (for 6 or more subjects). Our training center charges very economical fees for Private Schooling students. 2. Personal Attention At our training centre, focus is to deliver quality coaching for very student with emphasis on personal attention. Typically, a classroom has not more than 5 students at a time. This makes it a small group and increases the attention given to the students. In the schools the classroom strength is 20-30 with absolutely no personal attention. 3. Worksheets / Assignments / Tests / Board Paper solving We have a planned schedule as a part of the Academic Monitoring system. This ensures that the results are good. Our track record has been outstanding in the past 3 years with more than 80 students securing the Certificates with good grades. 4. Emphasis on English Every student has to compulsorily attend English language classes. We train students not only to get through the IGCSE but also provide orientation for GED (US High School Diploma –12th Std).
